Margarita Martinez is a costume designer, based in Florence, Italy. She creates historical ball gowns and for over 20 years her dresses have danced in the most magnificent ballrooms of Tuscany. She specializes in Napoleonic & Regency dress, late Victorian and 1910-1914, the years of the Titanic and Paul Poiret. Her costumes are available for hire or sale from her studio in the historical centre of Florence.
She is presently working on a series of Napoleonic court dresses with detachable velvet trains inspired by the many splendid portraits of Josephine and Napoleon’s sisters. These gowns will be ready for the Grand Napoleonic Ball being planned for the bicentenary celebrations of Elisa Bonaparte’s rule as Grand Duchess of Tuscany (1809-1814).
