Costume Colloquium II - Dress for Dance
held in Florence in November 2010

In November 2010 I attended the Costume Colloquium on Dress for Dance.

I met the Costume Department staff from NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Art), Sydney, and some present and ex-students. They had a great exhibition at the Palazzo Medici Riccardi in Florence of their work over the past years! When I attended NIDA (graduated 1984) there was no Costume Department and now there is a fantastic centre for Costume research, design and production, producing world-class costumes!

I also met many costumiers from all over the world, not least Jennifer Irwin, the amazing costume designer for the Bangarra Dance Company in Australia!

I finally scanned some photos taken at various Costume Balls during the last 20 years!

This photo is of myself with Alessandra Tedeschi. She's wearing an original dress from 1910, belonging to her great grandmother. I'm wearing one of my first 1910-1914 creations.

Jane Austen Festival in Bath, England
September 2010

In September 2010 I visited Bath again to visit good friends and attend the Jane Austen Festival events and the Farthingale Regency Ball.

On my first day Allison and I had a scrumptious lunch at the pump room with two lady writers who had just finished books inspired by Jane Austen! A great start to the Festival!

Here is yours truly wearing one of Allison's spencers and a velvet beret, and a lovely fichu I had found the day before in London at Grey's Antique Markets. We're standing in front of The Royal Crescent Hotel in Bath on our way to the Pump Room for lunch.
